Ontario: Guide Dogs Acclimate To The Airport

It doesnat make sense.a And, although Wooderas call to end sick notes is not exactly being embraced [read] by business, he has received overwhelming support from other doctors who are also fed up with the growing a and often senseless a appetite for sick notes, especially at this time of year. Wooderas comments come as flu season is beginning to peak in Canada, with reports of growing cases of flu and a number of deaths. Ottawa Public Health has reported two deaths of elderly residents and a rise in the number of cases of H1N1, the swine flu that caused an outbreak several years ago. Ottawa reopened a flu shot clinic for young children. In Alberta, where there has been a spike in flu cases, there have been lineups at flu clinics. Wooder released a statement this week encouraging people who are sick to stay home, a message heard every year at this time but often ignored.

Ontario?s politicians playing politics in the midst of extreme weather conditions

the mayor of the city the last time I checked was still Rob Ford. [ Related: Freezing weather shuts down Toronto's Pearson International Airport ] And federally, NDP MP Olivia Chow took to Twitter on Tuesday complaining about the chaos at Pearson International after cold weather forced the airport authority to divert all incoming North American flights. Strangely, she engaged Transport Minister Lisa Raitt on the issue. @oliviachow best to follow @TorontoPearson for updates on ground stop. Ontario man rescued after spending nearly a day in his truck, buried in the snow amid freezing temperatures

Zietsoff, 41, has previously admitted to losing more than $10 million of money he had taken from friends, family and acquaintances between January 2006 and December 2012. The other $5 million was returned to investors as so-called interest payments that kept up appearances for the scheme. Victims included Zietsoff's elderly parents, who lost their life savings of $2.5 million. His ex-wife lost $300,000 from an RRSP and recently declared bankruptcy. The scheme came to light in January 2013 when Zietsoff turned himself in to the RCMP, who were unaware of it prior to his confession. Zietsoff has since pled guilty to one count of fraud over $5,000. In documents filed as evidence in the Ontario Court of Justice, Zietsoff said he borrowed and invested money he raised from 59 people in Ontario and Arizona, where his parents had a home, although he was not registered with the OSC to do securities trading.

Ontario City Library to take a spin at used record sale

Lets look at a few, often contentious, issues Ontario had to wrestle with in developing the 2013 plan . The move from the Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) to a competitive approach for large renewable projects makes total sense. The FIT helped establish the industry in Ontario, attracted billions of dollars in investment, and created thousands of jobs in short, it put Ontario on the global renewable energy map. The program was much more than just producing affordable electricity; it kick-started a whole new industry for Ontario. Building on this base, the province can now shift to an annual competitive process that will force companies to compete to provide the best value to Ontario consumers.

Armed with masks, gloves and Clorox wipes, volunteers from the Teen Library Advisory Board were charged with the responsibility of cleaning and selling the books and records. Some more rare records were picked out to be sold on eBay. With artists like Bing Crosby, The Beatles see page and Beethoven, the variety of music in the collection is wide, spanning music over the last seven decades and beyond. Two of my friends got record players for Christmas, so I know records are really in, Thrasher said. Weve even been asked at the library if we have records. I think its something kind of unusual, too. All libraries sell used books, but a record sale?

Paris Regional Medical Center Affiliates With Baylor Scott & White

Sharing best practices can help both Baylor and Paris Regional improve patient care, he said. Baylor has similar clinical services affiliations with hospitals in Sulphur Springs, Greenville, Decatur and Glenrose, Allison said. When those hospitals compliment our own service offerings, that affiliation helps meet that communitys needs, Allison told me. A lot of times, (the affiliation) is because they need relationships for upstream referrals for a higher level of care than they offer in that community. It allows us to work with them to improve access to quality care for the people in those areas. Baylor Health Care System is part of the new Baylor Scott & White Health, the largest not-for-profit health system in Texas. Paris Regional Medical Center will continue to be part of RegionalCare Hospital Partners, an eight-hospital multistate system.

Ritz Paris offers sneak peek at new decor on revamped website

But yes, it hurts me. He's a good kid, he works hard and it's not an easy situation for him not to be playing every time. As reported by Jeremy Wilson in The Telegraph , Manchester United , Inter and Napoli are other possible destinations for Mata, who has played far fewer games than he would have hoped this season. With just nine starts in the Premier League during the 2013/14 campaign so far, the playmaker could favour a move elsewhere and it could be his wishes that decide his future. However, despite interest from a host of clubs, it will surely be the mega-rich Ligue 1 club that will pose the biggest threat of prying Mata away from the Blues. Laurent Blanc is on the lookout for a creative midfielder and has the funds availablea reported 35 millionto tempt Mourinho into selling the 25-year-old.

The amount of irrational love I have for the city can only come twitter from a past connection or perhaps from all the literature and film Ive devoured on the City of Light. After my third time there, earlier this month, I hopped onto an eight-hour flight back to Dubai. I flicked through the in-flight entertainment and came across a film my friend had recommended continue Midnight in Paris. OK, I thought, lets take Paris along for the ride home. The film is, in its vibrant cinematography and homage to the 1920s, director Woody Allens love letter to the city and to the talent it harboured. Throughout, I felt Owen Wilsons characters adoration for Paris, for its beauty when it rains. He is thoroughly enchanted by free the cobblestone streets, the cafes and buildings steeped in history, with ghosts of great writers, artists and poets on every corner.

9 quirky and brilliant Paris boutiques

Cafe de la Nouvelle Mairie In the perennially hip Latin Quarter youll find Cafe de la Nouvelle Mairie (19 Rue des Fosses Saint-Jacques, 33 1 44 07 04 41), an unassuming cafe and wine bar with warm yellow walls, worn wood tables and chalkboards listing the days specials including around 18 wines by the glass. The bearlike co-proprieter, Benjamin Fourty, started serving natural wine exclusively three years ago, after being turned off by overly oaky traditional vintages. I wanted to taste the true wine and tell the region from where it came, he explains. You can really taste the fruit in natural wine. And the terroir, too, which is why a Roussillon Bottle Neck red we deemed a bit too earthy; Fourty replaced it with a lighter, friendlier Cotes du Rhone called Sierra du Sud. At just 5 euros a glass, why not experiment? Unlike many Paris eateries, Cafe de la Nouvelle Mairie stays open all day starting at 8 a.m.

This cooperation was firmed up during the Tuesday and Wednesday visit to Spain of Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida, who met both with his Spanish counterpart, Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo, and Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and was received in an audience by King Juan Carlos. "Spain will be for Japan the entry door to Latin America and Japan will be the door to Asia for Spain," the assistant director of communications in the Japanese Foreign Ministry, Koichi Mizushima, told reporters. Regarding Latin America, the two countries agreed to cooperate by increasing communication and other contacts between their embassies in that region, where Spain is the second-largest investor after the United States, and shares a common language, Mizushima emphasized, adding that this issue was discussed on Wednesday at the meeting between Rajoy and Kishida. The Japanese official also noted that his country was an observer at the most recent Ibero-American Summit, which was held in Panama last October. The Japanese minister congratulated Rajoy on his efforts to rekindle the Spanish economy and the two men discussed the areas of renewable energy, health and infrastructure, where - the Japanese spokesman said - both countries are "strong." Mizushima also said that this is Kishida's first official visit abroad in 2014, emphasizing that the two nations are celebrating four centuries of bilateral relations and, to mark the occasion, the two ministers exchanged jerseys of their respective national soccer teams with their surnames and the number 400 on the back.

Mexico as Bellwether for an Unsubsidized Solar Eenrgy Future

James notes that "experience is growing quarter-to-quarter" as developers and utilities better navigate the system and the technology. Envolta offers a third-party financing lease structure for residential customers. Martifer already has a 30-megawatt merchant solar project with CFE in Mexico, while solar power plant developers SunEdison , SunPower and First Solar have merchant solar projects in development in Chile. More projects in Mexico will soon follow. "You don't need incentives for solar," said James, suggesting that any market can grow as long as there is a transparent regulatory process -- along with high tariffs and high DNI. James adds, "There is no cookie-cutter approach to developing solar in Latin America," going on to say, "It is more like developing a shale play rather than a tariff-based project in the EU." In Mexico, James says it's best to start with an end [read] user rather than with land and an interconnect permit. Ray J Loses It After Cops Jeer At Whitney Houston Corpse

Last week, Brandy's brother released the art for a new single, subtly titled " I Hit It First ," with the even more subtle move of using a pixelatedphoto of Kim Kardashian (who, you may be aware, is dating someone named Kanye West and is currently with child) for the cover art. Ray J's claim isn't wrong. As we all know, Ms.Kardashian initially rose to fame following the 2007 leak of a sex tape (recorded in 2003) featuring herself and Ray J. The lyrics of "I Hit It First" detail Ray J's claim, and what's happened since then: "I had her head going north and her ass going south/But now baby chose to go West." Why make the song?

Ray J responds to Kanye's TV diss: 'I deserved it'

The "Sexy Can I" hitmaker stirred up a feud with his ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian's new fiance last yearAwhen he released controversial track "I Hit It First," and it clearly upset Kanye because he responded by dissing Ray J during a TV performance. During an unannounced appearance on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" in September, West played his new single "Bound 2" with music veteran Charlie Wilson, and he used his stage time to take a subtle jab at Ray J at the top of the song. The rapper stopped short of mentioning the singer by name, instead, he namechecked Ray J's only sibling, R&B star Brandy, to make it clear to fans who he was referring to. He rapped, "Brandy's little sister lame, man, he know it now/When a real brother hold you down, you supposed to drown." But Ray J, who famously featured in a 2003 sex tape with Kardashian, insists he took the jibe in his stride, confessing, "At the end of the day it was well deserved. Bcs National Championship: Florida State Rallies Past Auburn, 34-31

Before the touchdown, there were so many story lines unfinished. Was the Southeastern Conference destined to win its eighth consecutive championship, even following a season without a dominant team? Was Tigers Coach Gus Malzahn , in his first season as a head coach in a power conference, really able to win a title so quickly? And had Florida State and Winston paid its way to Pasadena with fools gold, cruising through its Atlantic Coast Conference schedule not because of its own ability but because of inferior competition? In the locker room at halftime, the Seminoles saw how they wanted those questions answered, and making adjustments to Winstons game and how it defended Auburns rushing attack swayed the conversation. Winstons first season was historic, not unfulfilled and perhaps misleading; Malzahns SEC debut was impressive but still leaves things to prove; and perhaps most important for balance in the football universe, since Texass championship after the 2005 season, a non-SEC representative owns the Coaches Trophy.

Florida State shares regional Sports Illustrated covers with the NFL this week

According to the Orlando Sentinel on Jan. 8 , the Florida Legislature is planning on exploding its long-ignored fireworks ban just in time for the Fourth of July. The law was for a long time considered sheepish and ignored, but Florida lawmakers may be admitting that it is time for the state to get rid of its ban on most fireworks -- for the simple fact that the law has never really been enforced. Senate Commerce and Tourism Chair Nancy Detert (R-Venice) told the Sentinel: This is the 'we're done lying bill' The law included a ban on black cartridges, toy cannons, firecrackers, torpedoes, skyrockets, Roman candles, cherry bombs and anything else that contained a flammable compound. The law did allow toy guns, smoke devices, party poppers, snappers, snakes and sparklers. But the one loophole in the law was that the flammable compound had to be used for agriculture purposes, and many state residents were using the loophole to legally gain access to the more explosive fireworks. Stay tuned.

The Differences: Florida vs. Memphis, Fresno State, Savannah State, Richmond

Sparklers are allowed as well. Pictures: Orange County http://eltoniywu.wordpressy.pl/?p=26 Jail Mug Shots But critics say the law is easy to get around because people who want to buy fireworks can do so provided they sign a form saying they're using it for agricultural purposes, such as chasing off birds from farms or fisheries. And in 2002, a court ruled that vendors have no legal obligation to make sure people who buy fireworks are actually using them that way. So fireworks aficionados have complained for years the current regulations do nothing to stop the use of fireworks but do require people to lie on forms to buy them. Opponents of the repeal say even though all but about five states allow commercial sales of fireworks, Florida would be increasing the risks of injury by repealing its prohibition. Under the bill, anyone 16 or older could buy fireworks. "We're talking about taking a product just as dangerous as a handgun and putting it in the hands of a 16-year-old," said Wayne Watts Jr.

The student section has also been excellent at the fake shot clock all year. I hope that continues in conference play, and have no reason to believe it won't. Besocked is a word. Look it up. Attendance for this game wasn't just good on TV; it was good in general. Germany suspects its stolen cars traveling to Tajikistan

Also, a German security official who spoke to NPR on the condition of not being identified says there's concern about radicalized war veterans coming back to Germany with knowledge of weapons and explosives that could be used to carry out attacks there. Rhein says it's imperative to prevent those who want to fight in Syria from leaving home in the first place. So he's proposed an early detection system that will include telephone hotlines and counseling centers. The Hesse minister says the system which he's trying to get other German states to adopt will be similar to existing German programs that identify right-wing extremists. He says the idea is to create lines of communication with relatives, friends and teachers who would likely be the first to notice when an individual is becoming radicalized. A nationwide system would also make it easier for German states to share information on radical Islamist activities with each other. That's something authorities there would welcome.

Ontario headed toward another minority government: Poll

Bozinoff said the data suggests if an election were held now the Liberals would win 51 seats to the Tories 43 and 13 for the NDP. Currently, the Liberals have 49 seats, including Speaker Dave Levac, the Tories 36, more info and the NDP 20 with two vacancies in the 107-member legislature . I know it looks like a strange result to have the Tories seven points ahead but get fewer seats (than the Liberals), but read there are so many seats that the Liberals (would) win by one or two percentage points, said Bozinoff. The Liberal vote is amazingly efficient. Whatever they need thats what they have to win these ridings and keep their minority. Theres no waste to it. The Tories just pile it on in rural areas, he said.

Aston Villa Star Wanted By Atletico Madrid To Replace Arsenal target Diego Costa - Report

The Spanish side were linked to Benteke last summer when they tried to fill the gap left by Radamel Falcao 's move to Monaco. Real Madrid fail with ?7m bid for Manchester United target

In the meantime, Ancelotti is keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan as a possible replacement. Madrid have also been looking at strikers, but a new forward is unlikely to arrive in the winter window, especially after top target Luis Suarez signed an extension with Liverpool this week. Elsewhere, winger Angel di Maria has been linked with an exit to Monaco in January, but Ancelotti hopes he will stay and a move looks unlikely. The Argentine would only be transferred to raise cash for a world-class striker, in any case, and with such a transfer on hold until at least the summer, El Fideo now seems certain to remain at Real for the foreseeable future. ATLETICO MADRID Atletico Madrid are still in debt and currently operate on a tight budget, so coach Diego Simeone is unlikely to be given funds to strengthen the side in January - even though they are challenging for what would be their first Liga crown since 1995-96. Meanwhile, the Argentine coach has told the club's board he wants to keep his squad together to maintain the team's title tilt right until the end of the season.

18, 2013. (John Green/Bay Area News Group) ( JOHN GREEN ) It seems simple enough: To be labeled as "Made in America," a product sold in California must include only components manufactured and assembled in this nation. But that's a tougher standard than elsewhere in the country, where small amounts of foreign parts don't invalidate the label. And now it's touched off a debate among business interests and consumer rights groups, as state lawmakers consider lowering the threshold included in the state's 52-year-old labeling law. Richard Russell, chairman of the board of Russell's Furniture, is opening a new store in San Mateo on Feb. 1 that he originally planned to call "Made in America."
